The brief
Grojsman's first major Estée Lauder commission; built to capture 'the smell of starched white cotton against warm skin', the antithesis of the era's heavy orientals.
Name'White Linen' — meant to evoke fresh-pressed bed linen drying in summer sunlight.
Why it mattered
- Sophia Grojsman's launch composition that defined her career; the aldehyde-rose-iris-musk structure recurs in her later Trésor (1990) and Calvin Klein Eternity (1988).
The Curator's Note
Sophia Grojsman started here. Trésor and Eternity were just the same idea, refined.
