   Polge's first masculine launch as Chanel's in-house perfumer after his 1978 appointment, a markedly drier and more mineral take on the leather chypre.

   Drew on the lineage of Bandit and Aramis but with a herbal-mineral facet new to the masculine market of the early 1980s.

   Named after the Greek giant Antaeus, who in mythology drew strength from contact with his mother Earth.
